2025 Government-in-Action Youth Tour application

Visit Washington, D.C. June 15-23, 2025, and receive a $1,000 scholarship.

  • If you are a senior and plan to also submit a Scholarship of Excellence application at the same time, you will need to have a copy of your transcript available
  • Tip: We recommend completing this application on a computer, and drafting your responses in a separate document before completing the online application

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be a junior or senior in high school
  • Reside in the home of a parent or legal guardian who is a current Bluebonnet member with an active account and whose primary residence is within the outer boundaries of Bluebonnet’s service area (including city limits that are within those outer boundaries)
  • Participate in the tour to Washington, D.C., June 16-23, 2025
  • Submit a completed application form and brief video (limited to 5 minutes) by 5 p.m. January 17, 2025.  
  • Winners will be asked to attend an orientation session in March and do a magazine interview after the trip. 

Application Procedures
All completed applications will be reviewed and verified by Bluebonnet’s Scholarship Committee.

All applications and attachments become the property of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and will not be returned.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY

Please list up to 10 extracurricular activities you have participated in during high school, both at school and within your community. Activities may include athletics, band, school organizations, 4-H, FFA, church groups, community service clubs, student governance, vocational activities or charitable organizations.

For each line, list the following:

  • Organization, club or activity: Specify an organization, club or activity in which you participated (e.g., football, volleyball, robotics team, National Honor Society). List all involvement associated with that organization in the respective columns on the same line.
  • Roles/levels of involvement: Indicate the roles you held or your level of involvement, and the grade level you held this role (e.g., member 9th-12th, volunteer 10th, team captain 12th, president 12th, treasurer 10th).
  • Awards: List any awards, honors or recognition you received related to the activity, and the year(s) when the award was received (e.g., Most Valuable Player 12th; All-State Choir 11th-12th).
  • Grade level(s) of participation: Select all the years during high school when you participated in the activity.

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative will award $2,500 Scholarships of Excellence to eligible high school seniors graduating in the 2024-25 school year who will attend junior college, college or trade and technical school.
