
Director Jurk earns NRECA Gold credential
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Board member Russell Jurk earned a Director Gold credential from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, which represents more than 900 of the nation’s electric cooperatives. Jurk has served as a Bluebonnet director from District 4, Lee, Milam and Williamson counties, since 2011.

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s Board of directors unanimously approved the grants during its September Board meeting and grants will be awarded in October.
“These departments are dedicated to serving Bluebonnet members and our communities," said Matt Bentke, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “Our lineworkers and control center operators appreciate the partnership and quick response of firefighters and first responders during emergencies. Their work is vital to keeping our members and employees safe.”

SCAM ALERT! Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative members have reported a recent increase in attempted phone scams.
These fraudulent activities include scammers posing as Bluebonnet representatives over the phone, claiming member accounts are past due, threatening same-day disconnection and asking for immediate payment. The fraudulent calls are coming from 512-521-3002, and the scammers direct members to call 888-216-3973 to make a payment.

More than 600 Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative members and guests filled The Silos on 77 event center in Giddings on Tuesday, May 13, for the co-op’s Annual Meeting. Attendees enjoyed live music, received updates on the cooperative’s performance in 2024 and early 2025, re-elected three incumbent directors, and took home door prizes donated by Bluebonnet’s vendors.

Current members will see a credit on their May electric bill
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative will return more than $11 million in capital credits in 2025, an increase of $747,000 over last year. Bluebonnet’s members will see a reduction on their May electric bill as a result of the capital credits approved by the Board of Directors during its April meeting.
